In 1952 the Rancho Buena Vista hotel opened on the bay, attracting stars like John Wayne and Bing Crosby, not to mention President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Now the area is increasingly drawing the attention of second-home buyers as a quieter, less-expensive alternative to the nearby Cabo resort corridor.
